Amazing Sant Climent Holidays
Interesting prehistoric sites are in abundance around the village, making it the ideal Menorcan location for a history buff. Nearby Cales Coves is the site of an ancient necropolis – hundreds of prehistoric burial caves can be found in the rock.
Those interested in Menorca’s Talyotic past will want to visit Talayot Torello, which can be accessed from the main road into Sant Climent and is clearly signposted. This stone tower is a relic from the island’s prehistoric inhabitants, who built them at the highest point of their settlements.
Not far from the talayot is the Basalica de Torello, which houses the remains of a beautiful mosaic floor. It is thought to date back to the fifth or sixth century, when a Roman villa occupied the site.
A nearby attraction that should not be missed off anyone’s holiday itinerary is the Cova d’en Xoroi, which is just over ten minutes’ drive from Sant Climent. During the day you can explore this sensational network of natural caves, which boast spectacular views out over the ocean. By night, however, the caves turn into a truly unforgettable nightclub!
