A Hole in One: Where to Play Golf in Menorca

Are you a keen golfer who can’t bear to keep your hands off your clubs while you’re away on holiday?

The golf course just outside the resort of Son Parc offers quality golf under the bright Menorcan sun.

The Outlook

As the whole island is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, it is not surprising that Menorca’s only golf course is a lush green paradise that is home to a rich variety of birdlife, including a flock of peacocks who have made their home just beyond the third green. It’s good to know that they take their environmental responsibilities seriously: the greens are irrigated using rainwater and recycled water from a nearby water treatment plant.

The Course

The course was designed by Dave Thomas, a professional golfer and architect whose designs include San Roque on the Costa del Sol and The Belfry in the UK. Experienced players will be in their element playing a round or two here while on holiday. The course regularly hosts competitions and cups throughout the year; if you have a valid handicap you are eligible to take part. Beware, however, that the famous north wind of Menorca, the tramuntana, has a habit of taking you off guard!

There are plenty of opportunities for beginners at Son Parc as well as more seasoned players. The golf academy offers one-off sessions of 30 or 60 minutes to help you work on your technique, which you can practice on the putting green or the driving range. Children’s lessons are available in July and August, which allows Mum and Dad time to unwind on the course or in the bar.

The Facilities

Non-golfers are also well-catered for at Son Parc. The popular Romeo y Julieta Menorca has a delightful outdoor terrace that overlooks the green, perfect for relaxing with a glass of sangria in the summer sun. If you fancy a different kind of sport, there are hard tennis courts available for customer use.

So golf-lovers, rejoice! Just a short drive away from one of our villas in Fornells, Golf Son Parc Menorca is a scenic course that offers opportunities for all of the family to get out on its luscious greens.
